I'm 24 and this has been happening for a while now... but I'm not visibly going bald or anything... my hairline is fine.

But every brush of my hair while shampooing results in one or two strands coming loose. Is this normal for people our age? Am I missing some vitamins in my diet or something ?

I've never really paid attention, but I frequently have hair that comes out when I'm combing my hair. This is normal for anyone as long as it's not chunks. Everyone rake your hands semi-forcefully through your hair!... see? :)

Yes.

Edit: Yes, it is normal to lose plenty of hair in the shower. Don't worry about it as long as its not chunks and its not so much people say you are losing hair.

brush of my hair while shampooing

OK, first off, as a man, you don't "brush" your hair. You "comb" the fsckers. Second, you don't "shampoo" your hair! YOU "wash the mop" or "soap up the doo".

Anything else is thuperbly GHEY.

I've been finding hair in the shower, on the bathroom floor, etc. for as long as I can remember, and I still have all my hair (knocks on wood) and I'm 38 now.

I haven't cut my hair in about 10 months, so, as you can imagine its pretty shaggy. When it was shorter I didn't lose much, if any. Now that its long, it seems the added stress on each strand by the comb yanks out 5-10 strands a morning.

No I don't. I don't brush it though either. I use a comb when my hair is long enough to need it (very rare these days).

I cut my hair with the 6mm guard on the clipper.

I don't have much to lose.

(for those that don't know metric, 25mm = 1 inch, so 6mm is less than 1/4 inch)

And I don't shampoo. I wash my head with a bar of soap.

Edit: I'm 21.

I am 19 and have a receeding hair line + a small thin hair spot. My hair always falls out when I read books. I don't know why there is just always lots of hair all over the pages when I read.

"Brush my hair" was the wrong term. Obviously I don't brush my hair while shampooing - do you ? What I meant was the act of washing my hair with my hands... but you can still think I'm ghey if you want.

You would be "brushing" your hair AFTER you wash it. I never said anything about DURING.

Oh, and if you still say you brush your hair(even if you actually use a brush, a real man would call it a "comb"), then you ARE ghey. ;)

Nefrodite, yes it sure is a lot of hair in the vacuum bag. Especially when you factor in that my room mate cuts his hair the same way. Hahaha

Ditto here, except replace "5mm" with 1 inch (for the hair, no innunendos please! ;) )
