My sister used to repeat anything that she said. If she said "Im going to the kitchen", she would repeat it to herself. Sort of an echo. I used to be spooked by it.
As for me, I speak in my head. Does that count? Sometimes I also talk to God when Im freaked out
Talking to yourself has been proven to increase your memory of things.... It helps you remember because you're not only repeating things back for the sake of saying them, but your ears will help function memorization.
All the time especially in the following instances:
1. When I talk to my children (let's be realistic...they aren't really listening).
2. At work. Outloud. It's freaks out the other people in my office and then they don't bother me.
3. In my mind...usually only when I am counting to 10 in an effort to control an overwhelming urge to throttle the people listed in 1 and 2 above.
