do you take the internet seriously?

When you disagree with something someone says, do you:

  • I get really, really mad

  • I get quasi-mad

  • I get semi-mad

  • I get a diet coke kind of mad

  • I don't get mad

When you disagree with something someone says, do you really get mad? Or is it a pretend mad?

I don't really get mad unless the person is launching personal attacks about it. On this forum people have tendency of doing that and will do everything it takes to call you out if they disagree with you.

I've gotten annoyed/angry on occasion, but it's usually a sign to take a step back and disengage.

No.

Over the years I've come to realize that most people on discussion boards are overweight underachievers. Having discovered that, it's virtually impossible for anyone on the internet to ruffle my feathers.

No.

it's strangers, duh lol..

look, communication occurs in contexts, who doesn't know that?

the other day, a stranger in town shouted at my girlfriend and I "yo, i'd love me some of them tits!" lol.. i didn't care, we didn't know him, may never see him again, and they are my tits to behold, not his! lol..

same applies with Internet communication. I think people also project their subjective conception of interaction to others. To some, ANY mode of interaction denotes closeness or "bonding". To others, well they don't give a shit. hence why there are extroverts and introverts. A good rule I practice is not to invest much social energy with strangers, since there is no true mutual care. This doesn't mean not be civil, however don't expect them to act like their your long lost friend lol.. As aforecited, communication occurs in contexts.

Disagreeing with someone on the internet makes me tired. I think of what I'm going to post, and then what I'm going to reply to their reply to my post, and then what I'm going to reply to their reply to my reply to their reply to my post, and then what I'm going to reply to all the other people who join in the discussion. It's exhausting.
