Just wondering... do you guys switch between different brand/viscosity of your oil?

I have 10W-30 Valvoline in my last oil change... have no idea what my previous owners put in them. Do you guys try to keep it the same or just buy whatever on sale?

Definitely stick with the same viscosity, but I buy whatever is cheapest. I just bought 12 quarts of Valvoline synthetic that was on sale at discount auto parts and 4 PureOne filters from Amazon that were on sale... 3 quality oil changes for $45 ain't bad...

Even the cheapest oils have to meet the basic class standards and are more than enough for the type of driving most people do.

I stick with the same viscosity that the manufacturer recommends(5w-30), but buy whatever is on sale as long as it is brand name (Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline, Quaker State) and meet the specification(API service SM).

I've had dino oil changes up until 15k, then I used Mobil 1, then Pennzoil Platinum, and now I've got a couple of boxes of Valvoline Synpower that should last me couple years. Same ratings all around 5W-30

Different viscosity depending on season. I could barely get my vehicle to crank over 10-40 earlier in teh year when it was below 0.

On newer vehicles that recommend 5-x that is thin enough for most cold situations.

My car takes 10W30 ... usually Castrol Syntec or
if it's on sale that week, I would use Mobil 1 Synthetic

I have used Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Mobil 1, all 5w30 since I live in Southern Cali and weather doesn't change drastically. The only thing I noticed with Royal Purple and Amsoil was a higher price. I just stick with Mobil 1.
