You guys that say you use them to prevent damage... Why don't you just blank the display? I use them cause I like to see the movement, but it is kind of a waste of power. Turning the display off would be the practical approach.
I do blank my display. But it's under the Screen Saver settings...

That is a pain to do with my TV, plus the screensaver can wipe the IR something else gave it.

For my desktop computers I do use a blanked screen. Ever since Fenêtres Volantes stopped working in OSX no other screensaver could impress me.

No, but I have the monitor turn off after 25 minutes. Usually though if I'm going to be away from it for more than about a half hour I'll shut it off myself.

I have always used 'blank screen' until the 'turn off' option came about with DPMI or whatever power settings.. On a CRT, blank screen/power saver used a ton less power compared to running a screen saver.

Yep. It shows me photos on my hard drive. Else I'd almost never see them. Might as well put that unused monitor to use.

I voted no, but my htpc does have one, it comes on rather quickly, my secondary gaming rig does as well I think, but I don't really use it that much.
Main PC however has none, screens turn off after 15 minutes I think
