i know this is still an old favorite of some of us here, especially when it's compared to any of the newer NFS games.

i've heard that it has issues running on windows XP but apparently it's my lucky day or something. i just finished playing through the classic era on my main system and there were no problems whatsoever!

however, for some reason on my HTPC the menu screens have the top and bottom cut off. it wouldn't be that big of a deal except that's where the "race" and "back" buttons are. maybe it's a video card driver issue or the game just doesn't like my tv. i'll have to mess with it some more later.

has anyone here played it on a widescreen tv or monitor without the chopped off menus?

hmm i have it somewhere.

I havent played it on widescreen format yet.

It has that "right" feel to it.

probably still the best NFS game and one of the best racers.

I have the original Hot Pursuit somewhere, which I got with a Voodoo3 (alongside Unreal) many years ago. I had a lot of fun with it back then but haven't loaded it up recently.

Same here, bought a V3000 (I think?) and got NFS:Hot Pursuit. I played that more than I've ever played any racing game. I enjoyed modding my car into a 10 ton speed machine that mowed through police cars at 150MPH. :)

Wish I had it, perhaps I'll go look if I can get my hands on it, because boy did I love that game. Friend of me and I played it till the CD became unreadable :p

Hell yes! I have all the NFS games including the first one made for the 3DO game console (later released for other systems). I love all the NFS games except for carbon, couldnt get into that as much as the others. PU was probably one of the best NFS games.

it won't run in the previous 2 systems I had. So I may dig it out and see if it works on my current rig

Still have it, but XP has proven to be real hit or miss with it. Last summer I played it for a few races, then it locked up, wouldn't play again. Reinstalled, it refused to race. After an hour or so trying to fix it, I decided to do something else.

this past weekend, i played all the way through the evolution mode and i think i only had 4 or 5 crashes out to the desktop. nothing major like a hard lock and certainly nothing that made the game unplayable. maybe os or driver updates inadvertently fixed prior issues.

i still haven't messed with my htpc to figure out the chopped off menus. it could just be a driver setting or possibly my tv is dumb. i'm thinking of changing the video card in that one this weekend anyway so maybe i'll find out ;)

WOW, same here. Voodoo 3 baby, it was the best damn card for me at the time and NFS Hot Pursuit was ALL i played during my dorm year. So many good memories there. Porsche was another great addition.

Yes, best racing game that I have ever played. Used to play it on my Voodoo5 5500 with my Logitech steering wheel / gas & brake peddles.

the PS2 logitech steering wheel and pedals is exactly why i wanted to play it on my tv with my gf. unfortunately something isn't playing nice.

of course, once i figure that out, i still have to think of how to use the wheel/pedals without a table :)
