Do you still have a soft spot for your previous daily driver?

Having a nice and new vehicle is like awesome, but I still find it difficult to let go of my previous daily driver. Going from a 2-door low to the ground coupe stick shift to a high riding CVT SUV is quite the change for me. Took the old beater out today cause I didn't want it to sit in the cold for too long, and boy did it hit me that I still love that darn thing. Drives like a dream, brought a nice big smile to my face, and I felt like a 16yr old in his very first ride again, haha.

Good times. BTW, my old DD was a 2001 Honda Prelude. Nothing beats the feeling of rowing your own boat. I'm planning on getting rid of it as it needs $work$ and there's no room. What did you do to yours? Sold it? Passed it down? Kept it? Ok, your turn....

I did like my first car a lot. '91 Accord that I eventually swapped an H22 into. It was a ton of fun! Ended up selling it.

98 Cavalier. Don't miss it much, although it's still definitely serviceable and cheap to run/maintain.

No, I drove a Yaris before getting my Charger. The only thing I miss is squeezing it into tiny parking spaces, not caring if it got dented and having only 10.5 gallons to fill at the pump.

When I think about my old cars I always think yeah it was great, however when I get into another version of the car I just feel its too old/crappy.

I think its more of a personal attachment

I miss a few of them my 89 5.0l 5 speed notch mustang, my 67 ford galaxie 390, and most recently my 89 dodge caravan turbo. Mainly I miss the money I'd have if I'd just kept the old car.

I miss my parents Ford Taurus from my teens...it just went and went (until the head gasket blew).. kept going after the repair.

My previous DD was an 07 Honda Fit..so much utility..nothing comes close in total package, value. I moved a 60" plasma in the damn thing, ffs!!!!! It was a gem. Bought it for $12.5k with 16.5k miles and sold it 4 yrs later with 73k miles for $8.5k WTF

The last one was 98 camry I totally abused and loaded like a truck for over 200,000 miles.
I miss its utter reliability and capacity.
It was no longer comfortable for long trips, and boring, and used too much fuel.
Before that I had an 86 626 that did the same duty, was more economical and more fun to drive.

I remember my dad's 1985 Pontiac Bonneville, RWD. Bench seats front and back, quite roomy, and a blast to drive in the winter time doing doughnuts and making it tail happy. Tires back in the days had white walls. The odd time I would see an old iteration of that vehicle, and thought it would be nice for nostalgic to own one today.

The Honda Fit is quite the compact hauler, I quite like it. I may still consider it down the road, if the next generation of the Fit is just as roomy, and has improved power and MPG.

I still miss my first car sometimes, even though aside from mpg my current daily is far superior in every way (ride comfort, capacity, utility, reliability, capability, and even fun factor).

I still have my last 2 drivers....though I did change the shaft on one...I loved them, (and a couple of real old ones I don't expect to use), but three's just about right to have around...

....but then again I still have my old set of fairway "metal/woods" and a dozen old putters...the old reliables that worked back then and may need to be taken out again when those now in the bag fail me...

....oh, we're talking cars...oops, great title, wrong forum.

I miss my old mustang but it was too much for a DD. I wound up selling it and buying a lexus is300, and while it's a fun car to drive it's just not on the same level. I wound up getting another mustang as my DD and letting my gf drive my lexus as her DD when her car broke the fuck down. My new mustang is decent but nowhere near the performance of the one I sold. I miss the car but I don't miss the gas mileage and maintenance cost of an aftermarket supercharger.

My previous DD was a truck. Now I drive a car and these roads are hell on a car. Especially in this unending winter with this unending snow.

My first car was a 96 Contour... I don't really miss that car lol, but I got a lot of use out of it (I sold it after I added maybe 80k miles to it).

Only vehicle I miss is my F150, but it wasn't exactly a DD. I worked from home so the majority of my use for it was... whatever I wanted to do. But, the F150 gives you that flexibility due to size and power.

Now I have an older Expedition and a new Mustang, excellent combo IMO. Been driving the Expedition pretty much all winter due to how bad this winter has been, and I don't care if it gets dings / scratches / damage in general. No personal attachment.

There's only one car I really miss. My previous two DDs were a '98 Accord and a '00 Maxima. The Maxima was a good car, spacious and very reliable. It got good mileage but there was nothing special about it. I still appreciate the Accord because it was just an extremely well-engineered car...did nothing well but nothing poorly either (for its purpose).

My current car is a Focus ST and it does a lot very well. When I drive conservatively, it gets good mileage (29+ MPG). It has a good stereo with Sirius, is spacious enough for five when needed, and is very fun when you want it to be.

The only car I miss is my first "real" new car out of college - '91 Eclipse GS Turbo. It was actually fairly reliable though not really high quality, but it was fun and had the best seats I've ever used (they just fit me perfectly). I sold it for practically nothing (170K miles) about 9 years ago because my commute was not conducive to manual transmission and it was too small for my growing family. He resold it to a teenager a few years later and said he still sees it from time to time.

My previous car was a 2007 VW Golf. I now drive a 2013 Focus ST. Granted, the ST outclasses the VW in nearly every category, I'm having a serious case of buyer's remorse with it. I paid cash for the car with the intention of keeping it a long time but it just doesn't feel like me like the VW did.

I drove 1998 Acura 3.5RL as my first car, and even if my stepfather still drives it, I really miss it. Incredible reliability and just an excellent car. I currently drive 2013 Honda Accord Sport.

Wow, really? I would've thought the ST would be leaps and bounds above the Golf, in terms of fun factor. Both stick? What's one thing the Golf does better in your opinion than the ST?

One thing nice about driving an old beater around, is you can park wherever the hell you want and not worry about getting dings on your car. It's actually the opposite, other people with nice vehicles have to worry about yours. Now I drive like a granny, eyeballing that MPG gauge, and trying to park as far away from society (at the mall) as I possibly can.

Had a '99 Ram 4x4, currently a '05 G35 coupe

Things I miss:
4x4
ride height
cargo room
5.9L v8
4 doors

Things I don't miss:
abysmal MPG
abysmal interior materials
abysmal headlights
loose steering
parking

Its currently serving backup duty for my parents in case all their other cars fail.

83 BMW 325e
89 Toyota Celica ST
89 Toyota MR2
90 VW Golf
83 Toyota van

The MR2 was the best of the bunch in every way, and the one that I kept for the longest. But I have fond memories of all of them due to the experiences that they gave me. Not the van, though, the van sucked.

Oh, and they were ALL stick shift.

I had a 00' Cavalier and it was a decent car. It wasn't fast, or very fuel-efficient, or even comofortable, but it was cheap to run and maintain and it never had any major issues.
