Do you still enjoy playing older games?

Yeah, I still play AOE1 ad quake 2 whenever I get the chance to. Unfortunately AOE1 locks up my PC so I don't play that anymore.

Yeah, definitely.

Though admittedly there is a bit of nostalgia involved -- I often have trouble really getting into an older game if I didn't play it back when it was new.

I almost exclusively play older games now. I pretty much despise most current games, and they seem to be doing nothing but getting worse.

Lucky for me, I missed quite a few old classics and haven't played some of my favorites in many years. So I've been buying, and re buying loads of old games lately.

This for me exactly. I have no problem going back and playing Super Mario 3, Goldeneye, or other games I played as a kid, but getting into old games I didn't play as a kid is near impossible. I have tried with Zelda, and Megaman a few times, and just can't get into it...

With most of the garbage being released now you almost have to.

I agree, most of the older games i play are console games, ive either lost all my old PC games or they look like/run like shit on a modern computer that they aren't worth playing

The newest game I play is 7 years old (Homeworld 2). I also play Empire Earth (9 yrs old) and Homeworld (11 yrs old). I have failed to find anything (new) to compare or provide the level of happiness I feel playing these older games.

LOL To kill the crave for a new game... I just reloaded Starcraft 1..... Yes, I was one of the heathen that NEVER finished it.

Graphics are a bit dated, but it should buy me the time needed to have SC2 become a 30 dollar game.
No, I never buy for multiplayer. In RTS I SUCK........ Actually would have to improve to suck.

The first two missions brought me "back to the day". I cant believe how OLD that game is.
Hopefully, I can find the expansion packs. YEAH. I bought them. NO, never played them.
Well, I think I played a mission or two in each.

honestly depends on the game.

i think ive been a bit spoiled by graphics in the recient years, so old games are sometimes unbearable.

But there are ones which dont need to have great graphics to enjoy like civ series.

Yes, I rescently played Darkstone, Dungeon Keeper, Total Annihilation and Baldur's Gate. Sadly I couldnt get through BG, it's just too long, and there is too much geek stuff one has to understand... For example, what the heck is 1d6? 2d4? I dont knwo and I dont want to know! I want to play the game, not STUDY it!

Never played BG, but xdy is standard "dice notation". 1d6 is rolling a 6-sided die once, so you get a random number from 1-6 with each number equally likely. 2d4 is rolling a four sided dice twice and adding them, so you get a number from 2-8, with 2 and 8 being less likely than the others. And so on. I don't think they expect you to "study" it, they assume everyone knows this. ;)

My all-time favorite older game to play is Heroes of Might and Magic III. No matter how many times I come back to it, it never feels old. I guess the random map generator might have something to do with that though.

Just started playing call of duty united offensive again. Probably one of the best multiplyer FPS games ever made that no one played. This game is so damn good.

Hate to break it to you, but SC2 isn't going to be less than $60 for at least 5 years. Blizzard has a history of not reducing the price of their games until they've been out for quite a few years.

The oldest game that I really play is Counter Strike Source which is 8 years old, IIRC.

Last time I bought something from GOG.com I intended to spend $5, I ended up spending $55. My wishlist is growing again as well.

I'm still in the process of trying to find my StarCraft CDs and wondering if I should give Baldurs Gate II another go.

I still have mine somewhere, I think in the vain hope I might use them again one day. Rifts FTW! Although SDC and MDC were used in other Palladium games too weren't they? So long ago....

And yes, I enjoy playing older games alot. Especially older RPGs for some reason, I think because in the ones I do replay, there is much less linearity than we have in modern RPGs. I like to make my own story.

An excellent online multiplayer game can be timeless. I still play the original Unreal Tournament (1999) and UT 2004. There are still populated servers and UT99 still has an active capture-the-flag 5v5 pug match community.
