I live in Canada...and around where I live, it would be unheard of to NOT take off your shoes when entering a house.

Always wear my shoes. The again, this is just a dorm room. Haven't even vacuumed it yet (been a month) but it looks clean enough to me. And certainly better than other hell hole rooms I've seen

im from easterno-central europe (czech rep) and its pretty much a custom to take off your shoes. Same thing in our house for the most part. (crapy carpet ala over the floor - noone cares, "persian" cotton carpet - my mom woulda whoop my ass if you dont take em off)
