Do you sign the back of a check youre writing yourself when you deposit it?

Moving some money from one back to the other to pay my mortgage. Going to deposit the check in an ATM b/c the bank is closed. Do I need to sign the back of the check too?

Agreed. Even if you didn't have to, it's better safe than sorry.

edit: but couldn't you just transfer the funds electronically from one account to another from home? My wife does that constantly. (Puts money into one account, so that she won't use it and can save up for something, then transfers money back and forth from that account about every other day.)

Of course. You're always supposed to endorse and write your account number on checks, especially if they're deposited in the ATM.
