People in Santa Cruz make fun of people form the valley (and silicon valley) when they get 'hella' lost looking for the boardwalk. So, although I live in the valley, no I do not say 'hella'.

when i was a freshy at berkeley, 'hella' use to annoy me (I'm from SoCal). after a few years, the phrases sorta grows on you and now I say it all the time.

hella tight yo!

Damn.. the expression "hella" is old; I remember using it during the late '80s / early '90s. Every once in a while it slips out nowadays, but I try to avoid talking like that. I prefer to use proper english, yo.

Hecka has GOT to be a mormon thing or something ;)

Same thing with "fetch", "oh my heck", etc.

Was in Montana last week and heard some older woman (50-55 or so) say that some baby was "hecka cute". Was the first time I'd ever heard it.

how about the option not from cali but from the northeast and occasionally it slips out when i get excited.

LOL I don't say hella, neither do I say leet or LOL, to me those are things you type not something you say heh.
