Do you say "bakery" or "baked goods"?

My wife and I have a bet going on the results of this post. She and her family dub all bakery items simply "bakery". No matter whether they are talking about cookies, bread, eclairs, muffins, etc. they call it all "bakery". I have always used the actual name of each item. What do you do? This has been an ongoing "tease-fest" and we wanted to see what your opinion was. Thanks for the input!

I go to the bakery, but I don't buy or eat bakery.

Right. A bakery is a place or building. The things they sell are baked goods.

Where's your wife from, Canada? Never trust anyone from a country that has milk in bags and ketchup chips.

Up here in the Great White North, a bakery is a place where you buy baked goods.

edit:

building = bakery

cookies, muffins, bread, etc = "baked stuff" or "cookies, muffins, bread, etc"
