Not long. Usually only until I check online to see that my deposit transaction has gone through.

I probably should save them for longer.

Nope. I have online banking which tells me the exact same information. I hate receipts, I only save them for big purchases (500 or more).

I save them, for as long as it takes me to walk to the nearest trash can. :p

I sometimes look at it to see my balance, and that's about it. If I only need to see my balance and not take out money then I just check online. Online banking is FTW, hard to believe I used to do it the non online way before.

there's a trash can right next to the ATM I use, so maybe about 5 seconds.

I used to save receipts from deposits, but after 11 years with the same bank and 0 problems with any ATM deposits during the entire time, I stopped seeing a point.

Generally I keep my ATM transaction receipts until I have my monthly statement for comparison.

I did for 5 years... BIG mistake. I use to throw them in a pile, then when the pile got big, I shoeboxed them. After 5 years, I had 3 or 4 boxes, and when it came time to dispose of them, I spent 3 hours shredding everything.

I verify everything online, so no need for statements or whatever.

Only until I get home, then I shred it.
Its good to keep it around for a little bit to remind me what I have in the account. I stopped balancing my checkbook a LONG time ago. 1998 I think.

I don't make deposits via the ATM. Had too many "disappear" over the years. Too much hassle getting the bank to set things right.

I save deposit receipts and ATM receipts until those transactions have posted to the monthly statement.. ATM receipts then get shredded and tossed. Deposit slips get attached to the statement and filed.

I hold them either until I get my monthly statement (online) or at least until I write it into my checkbook register (my own record to compare with my statement).

I keep mine until I balance my accounts, and yes I balance every account every month. I have been double charged twice over the years and if I did not check it is very likely that I would be out $500.00 +. I am always amazed when my students tell me they have never balance their accounts and don't even know how.
