I have always been against it, because i always like my phone too much to take the risk of dropping it, or getting sweat on it.

My problem is i really want the features of GPS tracking my runs, and would like to use pandora for music. I like the idea of the nike fuel band, but no GPS. i think there are other watches that might do GPS, but to pay near 200 bucks seems a little crazy.

I also just found out about "Zombies, RUN!" and it looks really cool, but again i dont want to take the risk of damaging my phone.

Do you run with your phone? And any tips for me if you do? (hold it or clip it somewhere?)

Yes. I hold it as I run. Its not so bad - but then again I don't by the gargantuan 5" devices that are all the rage these days. My Lumia 800 is quite comfortable to carry with me. I do put it in its rubber bumper case, though - its a slick phone as it is, it would be easy to drop with sweat.

I used to run with my 4 inch Galaxy S Vibrant. However I no longer run with my 4.7 inch Galaxy Nexus. I hate leaving my phone behind when I run, but it's too big, so I use an little MP3 player.

I also have an iPod Touch which is at least a moderately capable replacement - there are apps like Nike Running that use the accelerometer to track runs. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a full GPS in it though, so it isn't as accurate, doesn't show a map, and can't be used for biking. Its better than nothing, though, and definitely small/light enough to take with you.

I hold it when I run. I tried putting it in my pocket but it moves around a lot. It works for me because I use the GPS tracking and listen to music.

are you worried about sweat getting in it? Thats one of my biggest concerns. I remember a long time ago, when i briefly used an iphone, the slightest bit of water would result in the speaker/microphone getting all messed up.

how big are your hands? Holding a phone in general is my problem, i dont think the difference from a sgs1 to a gnex would be that big though. Did you ever have any luck getting your gpd to work?

It hasn't been a problem yet - and I've been running with a phone like that ever since my Nokia N95, back in 2008.

I ran with every phone I had (Droid Inc, Droid X, Fascinate, iPhone, Galaxy Nexus). I can't imagine not having something like RunKeeper. Sure, the battery goes down pretty quickly due to simultaneous GPS + music streaming, but I never run longer than 30 minutes so it's not a big deal for me.

I assume my hands are average size, haven't really paid much attention to hand sizes.

The 4 inch phone was borderline awkward, but I was mostly okay with it. The 4.7 may not be that much bigger, but for me it just crosses that too awkward line.

Being a former Vibrant owner, of course I've gotten used to not having GPS (it really sucked on that phone). And so it's just a feature I don't really use much even now.

I run with my phone. I use a clip on leather case that I strap to my shorts. Works great. This is one of the reasons I love the iPhone so much. I think anything bigger than the iPhone would be quite cumbersome to take running with me.

Nike+ GPS & Pandora = Running Bliss.

how does runkeeper comapre to endomondo? i think i picked up endomondo during one of the 10 cent google sales. And do you hold your Gnex, or wear it?

Yea i used to have a captivate, and i got so used to not having gps that i dont really use it as much asi probably should. Even in my car, i always choose directions instead of Nav. On a side note, the gnex GPS kinda sucks. My sgs2 was pretty good, but this takes way longer and sometimes cant get a lock at all. I think samsung just doesnt know how to make a gps. My old blackberry 8310 and 9700 would lock immediately, and would get it down to less than 3 meters.

Fannypack.
You all were thinking it. Just wear it backwards like Stone Fury from Windy City Heat and you look awesome.

I stick it in an armband. I also use Endomondo, but I haven't tried anything else, so I don't know how it compares.

Zombies, Run! looks pretty cool though. $8 to try it though... ouch. I guess the reviews are all pretty glowing though.

I use "Virtual Active" on my rowing machine with my tablet and it's really good - expensive, but compared to a gym membership, anything that I can do at home seems cheap. http://www.vafitness.com/ It senses the vibration of a rowing machine, or exercise bike and then increases or decreases the speed of a video of some outdoor place so that it actually seems like you are climbing up something outside. The video is really smooth and well done. I actually find that exercising with virtual active makes the time go by faster and I don't notice as much that my body gets tired. It's not miraculous - it doesn't actually motivate me to exercise more - but if I use it, it certainly makes the exercise more enjoyable.

I use an armband and headphones on an iPhone 4. I use the Nike+ sensor, but don't have Nike+ shoes. I put it in my shoelaces between the tounge before running, holds it fine and picks up the movement.

I hold my S2 Skyrocket when I run. I don't like having things clipped to me when running because it bounces around to much. I don't find it very bothersome, I'm not too worried about sweat or anything. However, I didn't use it on my .5 marathon (I've only done 1) because I thought it'd be too great of a distance to have to hold something. For normal (~3-5mi) it doesn't bother me holding it.
