All my Asian friends seem to do this, yet thier floors never look cleaner than the floors of friends who don't require it.

no, but my friend doesn't let anyone with shoes into his apartment room. he says he can notice it if someone has walked in there with shoes, but i'm really doubting that.

My mom is near obsessive compulsive clean freak. We take shoes off and I can literally lick off the carpet.

Despite our $4K leather sofa in the living room, most of us just lie comfortably on the floor while watching TV.

Yes, we're asian. I don't know how u can have shoes in house... you bring all that crap outside indoors.

No, i have 10 cats (3 indoor only and 7 indoor/outdoor models) and a very blue collar guy. Shoes anywhere in the house but my beedrom is a different story.

My bedroom is a different story. The carpet in the bedroom was over $2,000. and there are no shoes allowed on in the bedroom.

Yes, not asian. New carpet, can't afford to replace it anytime in the near future. So we just kick our shoes off.

Cleanliness is only a small part of it. It is a sign of respect to take off one's shoes before entering someone's home.

I am in the same situation. I have a silk carpet in my bedroom.

no, not asian, and I get annoyed at people who ask me to take my shoes off. that's what a door mat is for (not that I've walked in dirt in the past few years).

shoes are for outside!
our first floor has persian rugs on about 90% of it. I couldn't imagine to stain them.

and no not asian in the sense of oriental as many people refer to asians, but Asian in the sense that we're persian (and Iran is in Asia).

Maybe if you lived in the dynasty era. It barely has to do with respect. It's all about cleanliness. Don't argue with me, I'm asian. :)

... We don't have that rule in my parents house... or ANY of my extended biological family's houses.

But it's sort of an unspoken rule for all of my adopted family's houses... just has to do with cleanliness. I can't stand it when people wear dirty shoes in on clean flooring.

No, I'm not even remotely close to Asian.

Do your friends clean their floors very often?

Our wooden floors are spotless and shines like the day the polyurethane dried.
