Do you recognize this screw?

It's from a brand new ASRock X58 Extreme motherboard (used to hold the heatsinks down). The one on the left is broken... (arggh!) It's kind of a flanged design where the flange catches on the back of the motherboard, and must be pinched together to remove.

Anyone know where I could find a replacement? Or do you think I could just use a normal plastic screw (does Home Depot have those? or Microcenter?) I know I can RMA the board, but that seems like such a hassle!!!

Maybe ask Asrock and they'll send you one for free?

I'd see if a 4-40 nylon screw and nut from Home Depot would fit.

If you don't have any junk MBs or video cards with these push-pins, I'd go the nylon screw/nut route.

Aepheme, I can mail you a replacement (if you live in the USA). It won't look exactly the same, but is probably close enough to work. I've got a spare one that fell off a graphics card of some sort. Just PM me your mailing address.

You could rig it with a zip tie. A metal screw should work also. I'd make a rubber washer for the back of the mb though.

you don't want to do that... It needs the spring to help keep tension on the heat sink with out bending the circuit board.

The spring can be reused with the zip tie, or metal screw. A little care is needed torquing it, but it's very doable.

Go to Lowes (like Home Depot). They have a very good selection of plastic pins, tabs, push locks, etc..
