I had my 2.4 P4C at 3.4 ghz for a couple months. i didnt really see a difference after bringing it back down thoguh. do you personally see a large speed increase in your day to day computer use?
Oh yeah! My distributed computing projects benefit greatly from higher CPU speed and/or system bandwidth. Frame rates in games, compression and decompression of files, and encoding tasks reflect it too. Of course I can't tell the difference when surfing, word processing, e-mail, or playback of media, but if that's all someone is doing than they are fine with an old PIII or Duron system
My 2500+ @ 3200+ brings me all kinds of noticeable performance gains. I play lots of games and soon I'll be converting VHS to DVD on the side. I need the horsies I get from the o/c.
you wont see a difference at 3.4ghz because it just provide more processing power so for more demanding application you will notice it. for mp3, divx, dvd, you wont notice anything much beyond 1.1ghz
I went from using a desktop barton 2500+ at 180x11 to a mobile 2600+ at 216x11 for normal everyday use. I can feel the difference. It's nice to run my memory synchronously for a change
