Do you really need the RF shield in your PC?

I took the RF sheild off the sliding panel on my PC because it was vibrating too much. Did I really need it? Will it interfere with my wireless network now?

this is a serious question - what RF shield? The whole metal case is a shield.

But no, caseless PCs and power supplies do not interfere with wireless. CMU uses wireless (802.11b), and I have 3 caseless PCs here and nobody reports problems.

I just mean the aluminum shield on the slide out side of the case. Everything seems fine without it. I wonder why they bother with it? FCC regulations?
