Do you really need the Elite over the Pro xbox360?

After deciphering all the combinations of xbox 360s (pro, elite, arcade, halo limited edition, core, premium, etc) I have decided to get one. But two question remain concerning the $100 extra you will pay for the elite over the pro:

1) Do you really need 100GB of HD space on a console game machine? What does that do for you.
2) You can buy a HDMI cable for $20, so the difference between the pro and elite is $80.

suggestions?

The 20gb drive is plenty for me and I can't even notice the diff with HDMI vs component, so not worth it IMO.

For me, I really think the extra HD space would come in handy. Especially with rumors of XB1 games being made available.

They aren't rumors anymore.

If you didn't get an xbox and don't feel like looking for used copies and are interested in playing xbox games then the extra space would be useful.

It's black, that's enough for me. I'm not going to stick a white component in my all black AV rack. And yes, I can make use of the 120GB hard drive.

The Elite cable set includes an AV dongle that lets you use both HDMI and optical digital out (from the AV connector) at the same time. With a Pro you pay $50 for the cable + dongle set from MS.

If you want to send an optical digital cable to your receiver and a HDMI cable to your TV, instead of just using HDMI for video _and_ audio then this lowers the price difference between the two.

Whichever you buy, be sure to get the Forza/MUA bundle deal since it's the same price as a bare console.

Ditto here. I may get one anyway cuz its black and beautiful and I can give my old 10gb one to my son.

Don't you think they'll lower the prices for the HDs now?

random thought...they really need to build wireless into the next version

The controllers are already wireless... What do you mean? WiFi? Yeah, they do need to add that.

Actually, the 20GB drives are better, since they cost $99. A much higher $$/GB means better quality. The 120GB drives for $180 are almost as good. Those PC fanboys surely won't find such good quality when they drop $70 for their 250GB drives, or $120 for their 500GB drives. [/sarcasm off] Over BF, I even snagged a few 750GB WD drives for $49 each.

Seriously, how can M$ gaming division *not* be their most profitable divison with markups like these? Their markups for their controllers is even higher, like 2100%.
