The multitude of garbage cans with the word "thanks" written on them and places for the trays to sit are their way of saying to do the work yourself.
[*]If an employee was supposed to do it, there would be one large garbage can, rather than 10 small ones.
[*]If an employee was supposed to do it, the sign would say "wash your hands" instead of "thanks".
[*]If an employee was supposed to do it, there wouldn't be places for trays to sit as the employee would take them back for washings immediately.
When the garbage cans don't look like described above, then I leave them. This almost always happens when the silverware is real, the glasses are real, etc and they don't want people throwing them away.
Not true.
The signs are a sort of psychology. You get more flies with honey rather than vinegar.
If they get one poor sap to dump their own trash, then the signs are successful because it cuts down on their work costs by not having to have someone bus each table, but get real, these savings are not passed on to the consumer.
If I eat in your establishment, do not expect me to bus my own table. I don't care if its McDonalds, mall food court, or applebees, this is a service they provide to you.
it really must suck to be that uptight all the time. i feel for you, seriously. dont have a stroke when someone gives you a dirty look for being arrogant (since you are) when you walk away from a filthy table at a fast food retaurant.

He must be the poor slob that's cleaning up the trays. Its just a reason for him to vent his anger for people doing it to him.
LOL, agreed. I do find it funny that I am being called arrogant though.
heh, to each their own. I'm probably arrogant also for only taking my trash to the curb instead of driving it all the way to the landfill every week..

you really must be stupid to try to compare those 2 things. driving all the way to the landfill is truly ignorant since you pay the trash men to pick it up, and that is their specific duty. it isnt out of your way to throw your napkin and french fry box in the trash can on the way out the door. do you not see how horrible that comparison was? you are arrogant by the way...its quite obvious in your style of writing and your sense of logic. you are too cool and too good to make someones job a tad easier for the sake of being nice...if that isnt arrogant, i dont know what is.
btw, something else i just thought of. putting your trash on the corner is exactly like putting your tray above the trash can. you pay the trash people to pickup your trash, so why dont you pay them to come take out all the bags in your house instead of just picking it up on the curb. ouch, your comparison was not only bad, but totally wrong. 😉

If I'm eating at a place where the service warrants a tip after the meal then no. However if it's a mall food court then yeah, the employees aren't being paid to wait on me.
