Do you pronounce Gif with G or a J?

Personally, I've always used the "G" sound but it seems like a lot of people say it with a "J". Which way do you pronounce it?

Apparently the correct pronunciation is "j", like the peanut butter, but that's just stupid so pronounce it like gift as well.
