Introduction

Q3Center is one of the most popular Quake 3 resources on the Internet with a really great number of visitors each month. If you would like to be a part of the team and think you could contribute to this site, please read on.

What do we want?

What we are ideally looking for, are talented and dedicated members who are interested Quake 3. Dedication to the site is a pre-requisite. The site is updated daily and the importance of ground breaking news in this game is a must. This is not to say that you must have the exclusive on every story concerning the industry, but possess the initiative to resource when a story breaks. More specifically, we are looking for people to review maps and models, we have the news covered down, but if you still want to help out there that would be great. But, more help is needed with reviewing maps and models.

What do you get?

The positions at present are on a voluntary basis, but there are many developments in the pipeline that could make your efforts well worth the time involved. This, and the fact that your posts will be read each day by more readers than most other websites and media publications, giving you a foot in the door of a very competitive, but lucrative market.

What do I do?

All you have to do to join our team is PM me or reply to this thread with any questions or comments you have. Also, if you could submit a sample review or writing you have done that would be great (you can PM this too). It does not have to necessarily be an essay, just an extract of your writing style.

Thank you for listening and we hope you will decide to become part of our future.

Regards,
Josh Israel

See, if you chose a good game, like UT or CS, I'd be all over that. But Quake3? Gimme a break...

UT and HL people have trouble playing quake3 since it's fast paced, requires reflexes, good aim, etc...doesn't mean you have to bash it. All the games have their strong points, but some people, like me, just prefer the raw gameplay of quake3.

Uh, pardon? UT doesn't require speed or reflexes? Have you even played the game? In light of this new evidence, your comments are henceforth stricken from the record.

Hehe, UT is a good game. Quake III is better. End of story.

yeah, i own the game. I downloaded that demo the first day it came out like what? 2 years ago? UT CTF and Assault owns btw..but I like Quake3 gameplay more.

You really do need true skills to come out on top, where other games I find a lot of it is luck and camping skills. example... after not playing UT for at least 10 months, I hopped on a few servers and won all 3 times... now wtf? i didn't play for 10 months. So it must've been luck...because i'm sure there are people who play UT far more often than me. Same thing with half life...i was falling asleep. So i went back to quake. If I take so much as a week off of quake3, I am so rusty it's not even funny. It's hard to keep your skills up to snuff in Q3...especially in a mod like Rocket Arena 3, which best demonstrates the Q3 gameplay style IMO

your game was obviously the exception to the rule. I dare you to even try to go into a 32 person UT DM or even close-quarters CTF and come out in the top 3 IN YOUR TEAM. Wake me up when you have the screenshot.

Granted, UT may not require the precision aim(-bots) of Q3 and it's railgun to win, but to say that it's slow paced and/or easy is just plain false.

I like UT a lot better... nicer mods, better weapons/powerups, better graphics and maps, and fasterpaced especially on morpheus with translocators :D.

Well, Josh I gave you a good rating for your talent in making sites....it looks as though you needed it.:)(owch 2.5)

When, I say talent, I mean it's a lot better than I could do.

Pretender... I am NOT bashing UT. I am just saying they are different gameplay styles. You can't deny that Quake3 is a lot faster paced. UT has other stuff instead, like more interesting weapons and more gameplay modes. Quake3 has the physics and weapons for fast-paced gameplay that DOES require reflexes. You can't just whip out the plasma gun and spam plasma in all directions...because if you do, you'll have several rails up your ass before you even realized you made a mistake. If you pull out the wrong weapon, it is too late. You are dead. It requires split second decisions..another thing I like.
Most of this applies to Rocket Arena 3 more than just regular deathmatch or CTF, but it still applies to those.

I just favor this style over UT. UT still rocks.

Great job on that site! I'd help... but ... uh, nah. :)

Why bash either UT or Quake III? Both are good games. Personally I think Unreal Tournament holds the edge, but I'm not going to go say Quack 3 sux0rz! :p

The games have a different feel, which is to be expected, two completely different engines and game styles.

Anyway.. no arguing for me, I'm out!
