Just curious,

I picked up the acoustic guitar about six months ago, and have been going like gang-busters since then. It is amazing how far you can come in such a short time (and yes, my finger tips are numb).

I was wondering what instruments people play out there ("skin-flute" doesn't count), and for how long.

Again, just curious.

I've been playing the guitar for about four years. I started out on a nylon stringed acoustic, and moved onto my first electric within about 4 or 5 months. I now have a total of 5 electric guitars - A Fender Jazzmaster, Fender Jaguar, Burns Marqee, Yamaha Pacifica and Fender Duo Sonic (3 of them are at my bands rehearsal room). I've also got a cheapo Bass guitar as well. Not to mention a plethora of distortion/delay/overdrive/phaser pedals :)

The reason I need all these guitars is because we tend to use a lot of alternative tunings for our songs, so rather than retuning in between songs (which would drive the crown insane with rage and boredom), we just swap guitars :) hehe, it's a good excuse to have more guitars!

DaBoneHead - keep on playing man, you won't regret it!

I've played the piano since I was eight, was in chorus all through school, was in the choir at my church for years, and played the real flute in the marching band in high school. Can you say... Band Nerd?

The 'rents pushed the arts hard!

I've played Tuba and other low brass instruments for the last 12 years or so- I also write orchestral music on the side, and have won a few international competitions for doing so. One day I'll actually win MONEY or BIG PRIZES, but so far, it's all been "fame" although not much of that either. :-/
I was supposed to get media exposure from the local TV and newspaper places, then Princess Diana had to go chasing Paparazzi and lose... :|
They forgot all about me after that. :(

there is nothing wrong with being a band nerd. i was a band nerd and when i left school i started my own latin jazz/salsa band (i play sax and other woodwinds) and even cut a record and even though we didn't sell to many records (there is no appriciation for artisic latin jazz...) it was still loads of fun!

Keyboard, guitar and lead electron. The last is because I design pro audio electronics, and my musical knowledge is at least as important as what I know about the techology. :)

LOL! Well, all in all it seems as though I am in good company.

How many of you had to play Brandy and Tusk fifteen billion times? :p

Hey, I have all Gato Barbieri's CD's. Send some of your latin jazz my way, my friend!

I play a Carvin 6-string guitar... i used to have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier but i sold that and i'm looking to get a Carvin Legacy head or a VHT Pitbull. I've been playing about 6 years now. My style tends to be more progressive metal like Dream Theater, The Quiet Room but mix that with the likes of Opeth and Suffocation and that's how i like to play.

I used to play clarinet in school. Now I just play turntables and am teaching myself keyboard.

bigvince,

As long as you are encoding mp3s I would like a copy myself if it is not to much trouble.

;)I play guitar, bass, drums, and trombone. Guitar mostly though. I need to get a drum set 'cause my friend is getting tired of me playing his.

I have had a guitar for a couple years but I really don't play much anymore.

I spend too much time playing computer and doing other stuff.

But I may start playing just to learn a few songs since a few of my friends play bass and drums.

I played keyboards and later synth's. I was in a few bands from the age of around 15-30 doing general business and rock for the most part. It was great fun and I will always remember the great times I had with my fellow musicians, the different places, girls, and other fun situations we always seem to encounter.

The worse part was the constant rehearsals and the time spend getting ready to do these gigs.
