Your studio looks an awful lot like a basement family room :)

LOL- you found me out. The walls are filled with foam though, and the ceiling has sound-proof insulation. It's more of my man cave :)

I used to play the viola, but stopped after high school. I feel like I'd return to it one day if I have the time, or maybe pick up a violin (the positions are the same, but there is more solo sheet music for the violin).

I used to play the saxophone, but marching band killed any desire I had for that. I'm slowly learning guitar with Rocksmith (I guess, I'm not sure if that's a good way to learn or not).

I play alto as of now and that has been for six years. I used to play piano for a few months. I played viola for five years.

Marching sax sucks. I march to and it's ok. I marched in 40F weather, with 14 mob wind and rain. And nothing but the uniform and gym shorts and a t-shirt. :awe:

my parents tried to make me learn one as a kid, but my brain could never grasp reading music.

Truthfully for stringed instruments, reading music is becoming a thing of the past. I learned by "following the crows on a phone line", but I've noticed that the teens and 20 somethings today have no idea how to read sheet music- everything is tabs.

In one way that's bad because you can't just pick up a universal sheet of music and play it, but on the other hand standard music notation was more designed for a piano/woodwind, and doesn't translate well to a guitar. Tablature is actually designed for a guitar and makes it a bit easier to learn.

mbirizavazimu is my favorite ^^

classically trained in voice, studied Lieder with John Wustman, Neopolitan songs with Pino Daniele, Had a dozen lessons as a child with Gaetano Veloso and sang a duet with Maria Bethania when I was six. Studied Koto Drums with Shozo Sato and performed Kabuki. Guitar, some Piano, Journeyman Cello. Can pick up about a dozen other instruments and make sounds that dont annoy people. Am currently teaching my four year old triplets, piano, voice, percussion, Cello, Viola, Violin, and guitar. My neighbor calls us the Von trapps... On christmas eve we went over there caroling with Kazoos lol

OP needs to add voice because its an instrument as well.

anything with strings really..

piano, bass, guitar, violin, uke, banjo, etc

I can sing, but I mostly play guitar these days.

I can program drums (out of necessity) but they don't sound terribly original.

haha.. that was fun man! I'm having a fun time "reprogramming" my brain and fingers to "think" differently... and trying to get my fingers to mush onto that tiny fretboard HAHA!!

Yeah, I have long fingers so it took a while to get them to scrunch up on that tiny fretboard. Fortunately most chords are only two fingers, allowing you to do fills with the other fingers.

Sometime I'll do a whole song when I'm not in my jammies :)

drums/percussion for about 25 year, mixing records/dj'n for about 20 years and picked up bass guitar about 3 months ago. I love playing the bass! and having the mobility to watch tv and practice. something you cannot do with drums and or turntables.

I grew up playing string bass. I was actually pretty good and I loved it.

But then we moved and the new school didn't have an orchestra. I played in band for a few months before I gave up. Just something about a bass in a marching band that didn't make sense.
