Do you plan to switch CellPhone provider after the number portability takes effect? (POLL)

Just curious, I'm thinking about it, although it wouldn't be much work to notify the folks who have my number it's changed... I'm done w/ sprint as soon as I get a good deal on a new phone through AT&T.

I guess I just don't see number portability as a huge issue. I have changed providers 3 times in my life. I am on Nextel now and when I changed two years ago from Centurytel to Nextel, I had to pass my new phone number on to everyone I know. Today, I know more people but it isn't too hard to just let everyone know of the change. I will say it is a nice convenience though.

Will I change? No. I like Nextel and have no plans to move to another provider. IMHO, anyone who sticks with a crappy provider all because of a phone number is a moron. You are paying for the service, might as well pay for good service.

Just one more service fee to show up on the old bill. Current ones:

REGULATORY PROGRAMS FEE
FEDERAL TAX
EMERGENCY 911 CHARGE
SALES TAX
UNIVERSAL CONNECTIVITY CHARGE

and I heard this one was going to be $1-2 a month :(

Did you also know it lets you transfer your cell phone number to a land line and vice versa? I thought that was pretty interesting.

Although I could care less about the portability effect, I'm with you as I hate sprint. I don't hate the service persay, it's just that they have crappy service plans.

I just use my cell for the most part. The landline is there for a variety of reasons though. :)

Yes. I'm sick of Cingular's GSM "coverage." It sucks, and I'll be moving to verizon.

I plan to either give up or change to a super cheap phone/plan/provider once my contract is up. I only use the phone for necessary communications now and not for the society/status/convenience of dialing up whenever I feel like it.

I don't care what number I have as I never give it to anyone anyway.

It is just a coincidence for me.

Perhaps, if I can get a free phone out of the deal and keep my number I hand picked for brain dead easy to remember.
