Do you pay attention to song lyrics?

I find that I never actually pay attention to lyrics..usually I'm doing something else while listening, so I concentrate on that, rather than just sitting in one place and listening to music.

Only when I listen to a song a few times, and it sort of gets recited in my head do I ever pay attention to the lyrics.

Only if the song is interesting enough. Normally it happens if the song is R&B, especially Brian McKnight, he rocks 🙂

Almost always. Which is why I don't like a lot of rap and punk. I hate the lyrics.

There are times when I listen to music for how it sounds though, as opposed to what is being said. Like when I am studying and just want something quiet and nice sounding in the background. Sometimes this is classical, or someone with a nice voice (like sarah brightman).

Before I used to listen to it only for the music and sometimes the words if they went well together.
Now I can't help but pay attention to lyrics almost all the time.

I rate a song now 50% music and 50% words.
before it used to be more like 80/20

all of the time. for me, any one component of the song can make it or break it, from the lyrics to the drummer to the production.

Usually they are unintelligible.

Of course i pay attention to the lyrics. That is the only way to get 100% of the song's meaning. Example:

Everytime i come round yo city......BLING BLING
Pinky ring worth bout fifty........BLING BLING

Now lyrics like that my friends, just hits you on a higher level of consciousness.

Unless the music and the voice fit together well enough to hide the lyrics I always pay attention to it. So I voted 'Most of the time'.

If you think of it, lyrics were invented and placed into songs in order to emphasize a point where just the music couldn't explain it well enough. So one should always listen to the lyrics. However, there's a lot of garbage out there, unfortunately that simply makes me tune out what is being said after I first hear it. Same can be stated for the music, come to think of it.

My Bible thumping brother does...that is how he nit picks every song for Satanic material
