Don't have a 120GB, but I did partition my 40GB drive in my laptop. One 5 gig partition, and 35 gb partition.

Partitioning large HDs make defragging much easier. Plus its easy to reload an OS and programs and still maintain an intact partition for movies and mp3s.

I partition my two 120 gig drives to make 4 partitions between them. The main reason is for organization.

I have two 1200JB's in a raid 0 array, one 240 gig partition.

I hate partitioned drives.

Sometimes partitioning is good. Like these forums, they are partitioned so that questions like this can go in "general hardware" or "operating systems" where they belong :) In the case of HDs I think partitioning is overrated and I don't do it or recommend it.

10gb boot partition, 10gb restore partition, and the rest is for program and files. If anything happens (service pack f'ing up my system, virii, etc) I just fire up Ghost and restore my system. This way, I don't have to reinstall my programs or software even after a virus attack because virii usually attack the boot partition where Windows is located.

Heh i think i've gone a lil' overboard... My main drive is a 120gb divided into three equal partitions, first is for OS, second for programs, third for downloads. My second drive is an 90gb it has a 4gig partition and the rest is divided into halves. The 4gb is for my swap file, and the other two are for music and movies respectively

On all of my computers I make a seperate partition for the OS and the respective programs of about 5-15GB. The rest of the drive is made into one partition for storage. It is so much easier to reinstall Windows when you have your data on a seperate partition since you don't have to worry about losing any of your files.
