Like I said...

eh, i know quite a few 30-60 year old tryhard software devs on twitter

it's entertaining to see them get caught up in women's rights debates with SJWs (most for, but some against)

these things tend to end in long blog posts, with the occasional death threats and doxxing.

makes ATOT seem like a council of sages in comparison.

I never understood the appeal of Twitter. Which I guess why I have no hope of making a billion worthless app.

I don't understand how twitter stays in business, let alone makes a profit. We've made millions off them and never paid them a penny. Who the hell is paying them and for what?

Hmm, ok. I don't recall ever seeing an ad on twitter. They probably just scroll by so quickly.

so many people don't understand how advertising works now.

you post. you read. you respond.

twitter amasses databases of info regarding your activity

advertisers buy that info

you see ads everywhere the fuck you go.

Yep, they can make money without showing you a single ad. I don't know if that's how they operate, but it's conceivable.

Nope. I'd have to actually
(a) have a twitter account
(b) visit twitter
and
(c) give enough of a shit about an issue to bother.

So already, the vast majority of us could give 2 shits about Twitter and the "Springs" it is developing.

How the hell does Twitter then make up such a huge portion of our news?

Different demographics? I suspect most people in the ATOT forum are (a lot) older than the typical Twitter user.
