ummm, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Cargo shorts are almost as bad as cut off jean shorts. My GF won't go out in public with me if I wear Cargo shorts. People who wear cargo shorts are about on par with people who wear fanny packs.

a person who wears cargo short and a fanny pack at the same time are the text definition of epic fail.

It's either simply college students, the regional differences (us midwesteners tend to have people that actually do work, and outdoor stuff.

Wow, I'm not a fashionable guy or whatever, but you seriously went to Hawaii and wore jorts? The two weeks I was there, all I wore were board shorts or cargo shorts, t-shirts, and sandals. I just find jean shorts to be far less comfortable and too constricting, especially in hot weather or if I'm really active. (haven't owned any for >10 years, but that's what I remember).

i have a few pairs my ex wife bought me still, used to wear them back in the late 90s. i like baggy cargo shorts now, i have many different colors. i also have some long dickies as well as some older carpenter pants that got cut into shorts. they are comfortable and great for around the house or working on stuff.

Jorts are fucking fine, and the same naysayer dipshits will throw on a terrible pair of plaid cargo shorts and instantly proclaim superiority. Go hate on denim jackets instead. Ecko Unlimited, ones that go down to my knees or a little past. I wouldn't be caught dead in Cut Offs, Cargo shorts or any shorts they sell at Old Navy.

Shorts that go past the knee need something on them to look decent. It could be some sort of design I guess, but the pockets on cargo shorts look best. Even denim is rendered acceptable with the addition of a pocket on the thigh. It's just my opinion though. Still, I can't find a reason to be anything less than neutral about cargo shorts at the worst, much less "not being caught dead" in them.
