I have an old spare computer running Windows Vista Home Basic and Debian XFCE. Debian is running a lot better than Vista and XP on that system but I usually work with Vista on it. I am in the process of replacing it with an LGA775 which will have Windows and Linux.

I just want to say, props for the K7S5A that still works. I had one of those with my 1.4 ghz Tbird budget monster machine. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have any problems. Linux will probably keep hardware like that plodding along for years to come, especially if you go with a lightweight DE like XFCE or LXDE. Heck my Lubuntu install uses something like ~260 mb of RAM shortly after boot, it's silly.
