I think I need one to protect some stuff. I'm planning on purchasing a gun. Have some cash on hand. My passport, birth certificate, important paper work.

No; I should really get one so all my important documents are protected in case of a fire or something.

Yea, don't get one of those stupid ones that you can just pick up and leave with, I had a friend that had one, he lives in a frat, where we all know a lot of parties occur, enough said, needless to say the next one he bought he made sure no one was just walking away with. Thing wieghed like half a ton

At least 175 lbs. But they sell safes based on fire resistance or volume Not mass. And even the smaller Sentry fire resistant safes are at least 30 lbs. empty. Not very convenient to carry around.

The important paperwork and other valuables are stored in my safe deposit box at the bank :)

I keep all of that kind of stuff in my gun cabinet.

The gun cabinet is bolted to studs in the wall.

Just have a little firesafe that we tuck away for passports and excess cash and things. More there for environmental protection than anything.

When we build our next home, we'll have one of those gun vault/fire safe to keep rifles and valuables in. Not in a postion where I want to lug a 1000 pound brick of lead across a couple states. :p

a very small one
the smallest fire safe they sell, it doesn't have a lock on it per se , so it is just good for fire protection and organization and its portable so we could grab it and take it with us
