I carved one from a solid block of gypsum board. It didn't work. Stupid null modem cables.

I don't use that much, but I have a mod to serial cable that I use often with phone systems.

I think I know what you actually mean, and I don't think I ever had one. Wanted one, but never got around to it. An Ethernet crossover cable is faster anyway.

Yes I have a couple, work in IT. Had to eventually get a updated one that support USB since newer laptops don't have serial connections as default.

yea had one for my Amigas to play a couple of games with friends over, was just a serial cable mod from one to the other.

Use them quite a bit at work for local management of routers and other equipment.
