Two different RCA ones (256+1GB flash and 20GB HDD) and a Lexar one that I'm letting my dad keep. I don't think he's ever used it though.

I owned an iRiver IMP400 (I think) CD/MP3 player which was fantastic, but I wanted a hard disk type player and sold it to buy a Sony NW-HD3 and it's the worst decision I ever made. I ended up selling the Sony player for being a piece of turd, and now I spit on Sony from a great height.

So, at the moment I do not own an MP3 player. *Votes.*

In the market for another iRiver. ;) Think iPods are crap. :p

Should I buy a hdd-based or flash-based one?

I don't want to spend more than $150 so I'm limited to about 4GB for flash, or say up to $180, I could get a 30gb Ipod refurb or a 6gb Sansa. So there's a HUGE price/size difference. I'm not going to be using it to jog or anything, but it will primarily be used while I'm walking to school, which will soon deal with lots of snow and zero-degree weather, so I'm not sure if that'll wreck the hard drive or anything.

1GB Transcend. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone - menus lag a little while scrolling through the list (enough to be mildly annoying). But it was cheap and it does the job.

I own a Rio! Cali 256 with 256MB of internal memory and a 512MB SD card in the slot. It takes one AAA battery and has been dropped a few times onto concrete and has never missed a beat. Don't think I could ever say the same for an iPod. If I had to replace it, now that Rio! is no more, I would get a SanDisk Sansa. But what I'll most likely do is simply buy an MP3 cell phone from Sony Ericsson, a set of BlueTooth stereo headphones, and 1-2GB of M2 memory.

I currently don't own one. I've got my PSP that I *sometimes* use as an MP3 player on my walk to/from my car on campus, but I usually don't bother with it.

I'd like to get a new Shuffle though. That thing looks really sweet, and I don't need more than 1gb, nor do I care about what order my music will play in. Just gonna stick a bunch of songs I like on it anyway.

My Sony Ericsson W810 has a 1GB player in it with radio... does that count even though it's a phone?

Oh yeah, I also own a POS diskman style MP3 player that was the first one to get under $100, a JVC DVD-MP3 player in my car, and a homemade one with a 60GB HD that's been retired.

Creative Muvo TX 256MB. Weighs 1 ounce, has a super comfortable armband for jogging, and is seen by XP as removeable storage (no software or drivers needed).

Oh, I also have a U2 iPod I got for Christmas 2 years ago, but I've never used it.
