I'm thinking if it's worth to buy one, i just need it once to clean out algae, and then to generally clean my brickwalls. just the pressure using the right nozzle should remove the algae, but with brick cleaning, do the professionals use chemicals, or just water?

Just be sure you use one with enough power. A good 2400/2500 psi unit should work well. As far as cleaning solution goes, you can buy a gallon of cement/driveway cleaner by Zep at Home Depot for about $6.00. This will get that stuff off your bricks.

I don't know about chemicals but my power washer removes the moss from my chimney and it it is not real high pressure.

Grrr .. Grr ... One can never have enough power -- even if they just use it once. Grr ... Grr ...

Actually, that is a good suggestion. Home Depot is now getting into the tool rental business, so check with one of their locations to see if they have a tool rental area. In my case, I wanted (and needed) one to the point where renting one for $40 a day would get pretty expensive. I found a Karcher at Costco for $299 which featured a 6.5HP Honda engine and 2400 PSI of pressure.

I believe I have the same Karcher unit. I use it on my rental properties to wash the roof/siding/driveways. Does a great job. The honda engine is a definite plus.

It does have a soap nozzle, but I wouldn't use the pressure tips to wash a car.
