Do you own a cat even though you are allergic?

I'm curious. How do you deal with it? I would love to have a cat in my life.

When did you start this character? Was it a specific date, or did it just evolve over time? Your oldest posts read normally. You aren't some white guy who just got into rap and decided it sounded cooler to write in some pseudo street argot? It's strikingly similar to Oblama's style, in any case.

I don't really care (omg! cultural appropriation! :D), just curious.

I just want a cat that did crazy stuff and pat it. I had one when I was growing up and it was the coolest cat ever. but I developed asthma about 20 years ago, and cats really set me off.

Not severely allergic, but pretty sure I am a little (I seemed to be when at the wife's old apartment). I have two in my house now. I have an air purifier in the living room and bedroom, and don't really have much of an issue.

so a hepa filter system will make a difference? I don't mind sucking on asthma inhaler if that is what it takes.

My friend and his wife just got a cat and she's allergic. They just buy a huge supply of Claratin.

Benedryl, Claritin, or one of the other allergy meds. I had 3 cats for 20 years, got dumped on me by the Ex. I'm somewhat allergic. So I was taking meds pretty much everyday.

Well, my daughter brought in two cats when she was living at home, and I'm allergic. Couldn't sit on my own furniture or my eyes would start to water and my nose would run. Had to take Zyrtec, which causes impotence with extended use. Now she's moved out, took her cats with her, we got leather furniture, and my dick works again!

Yes.

I was mildly allergic. Took in a kitten for a friend. (Kittens are usually less full of allergens. We were going to find her a home.)

Kitten became Cat, my "dosage" went up. I stopped getting sneezy first around her then around other peoples' cats. Accidentally successful desensitization therapy. Cat became My Cat.

The housemate I live with now has two cats (plus mine. We're crazy cat people.) They don't bother me except one of them; every now and then I'll pet her and my eyes will start itching. Like if she's having a particularly bad dander day, I guess. Maybe once or twice a month.

!!!!

I had pretty white females no problem for sex and normal relations, now, after quitting the thug lyfe 2 years ago i got no pretty white ladies for sex and normal relations. I need my vagina back so that I may return to this normalcy you speak of. They're not giving me the vagina i am requesting though, and they're collaborating on being some serious haters about it.

Cats live outside. People with cat allergies live inside.
We feed the cats and they roam the acreage and give us dead critters ...sometimes just the stomach of the dead critter.

Had two big boys that make my nose wet and sometime hard to breath at night, 10yrs into the in it starting to go away. So I went from allergic to cat to 99% no issue in 25yrs.

I did growing up. I would get itchy eyes and sneeze all the time because of it.

I love pets but now that I'm on my own and in a house, I don't want any animals running around my house. The only pet I would get is a tropical aquarium full of tropical fish. I won't own a cat or dog. They are also dirty as shit.

And I know you pet owners will say "well my animals arent dirty" but yes they are and your house stinks, you're just used to it.

I'd get a cat but I'm allergic (could deal with that with medication) and then you have the damn litterbox. No thanks, I don't want my house smelling like shit. I helped a co-worker move and his apartment smelt awful. I mean, it was beyond horrendous. You walked in and it almost felt like you were blanketed with the smell of cat shit. I understand there are odor eaters and you can put the box in some laundry room, but I'd much rather wait until I can responsibly care for a dog before I get a pet. Also, you can't take cats hiking. You can... but you probably shouldn't.

Am allergic and lived with cats for about 20 years. Got a divorce and all the cats stayed with the X. I never realized how much I was suffering until I lived in a house without cats. Awesome. Bonus: No cat pan. Yuck.

I still love cats and we have an outdoor neighborhood cat. It's perfect. I don't have to feed it or take care of it. It just shows up and we get to pet and hang out for a bit. Outside. Where these filthy critters belong.
