Do you need to prove business to buy a Vostro?

I think that the Dell Vostro is a good deal, but I'm not actually a small business. When I called Dell(I've heard that the sales reps have some leeway to haggle), they said I would need tax information. Can anyone verify? Thanks.

No you don't, but as a "small business," I doubt you have a lot of haggling power. Tell them you sell things on eBay as a sole proprietorship for your business. I told them I sell digital art on the internet (internet type business). You don't need tax exempt status, but then you still have to pay tax. Instead of giving your tax id, you have to give your SS#.

I didn't have to tell them anything. I just signed up for account, used a defunct business name (something I contemplated starting up), and no questions asked ever. I'm just ordering my 3rd computer with this small business account. Getting a Vostro, and it's taking TOO LONG to get here.
