Do you need to know higher than algebra math for MCSE and other CERTS?

Reason I'm asking is that my current job is actually downsizing. I do have a manager position but they are also cutting hours for the other employees. It isnt a STABLE job that I can rely on forever. I do know that after being in this job for about 8 months I do not want to go back to being a cashier, fast food, or any other job that requires hounding countless hours and being paid minmum wage. I do know that I work best by myself or with other people who have the same attitude as me. I do not work well with people who hound me or tell me that this and that has to be done, dont stand around, do this do something.

I currently work by myself, but I do have people above me. I must be doing a good job because as a regular associate I was promoted to a manager.

I am still in school and I'm taking two classes this semester at a community college. Math 24 which is 9th grade algebra, and Psychology 180. Both are for my major automechanics. But, I do want a job where I will be sitting down and or standing without anyone hounding me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Advice is appreciated!

What does a network admin's duties consist of? Is it hard work or would you say that they probably browse ATOT majority of their day?

I have been a network admin and it is a hurry up and wait job. Sometimes there isn't much to do and sometimes you can't get stuff done quick enough for everyone if you got it done yesterday (usually when sh*t breaks).

the hardest part is convincing the hiring commitee you're qualified enough...after that you sit around all day until sh!t breaks or some idiot can't figure sh!t out on his own.

LOL, no... fixing servers that ignorant engineers and programers think they are qualified to run and trying to make aging network equiptment run like a well-oiled machine cuz management is too cheap to keep up the entire backbone of their business wouldn't be much of a challenge at all. ;)

If you don't like people hounding you or telling you what has to be done then you might not want to be a network admin. When something goes wrong you have to fix it and fix it NOW! Expect about 50% of the people on your network to call and bitch when something goes down.
As far as the math goes it isn't too bad... just make sure you can convert decimal to binary before you try to take any MS exams.

Don't really need algebra either.

Troubleshooting, planning, knowledge of computers and networking, and first and foremost patience to deal with idiots

Unfortunately, I wouldn't call a career in IT a "STABLE job that I can rely on forever" either
