Do you need new rotors, alternators, belts, or other specific car parts?

Forget Rock Auto, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, O'Reillys, Autozone, or Amazon.

Use Newegg instead.

Yeah, when I think of quality auto parts, I think Newegg. I wonder how long it will be until they begin to sell groceries and pet supplies? :p

Yeah, a lot of stuff is made in China......but at varying degrees of quality depending on what factory it comes from, and that factory's QA control.

The car parts Newegg is going to sell will mostly all be from unknown 3rd party sellers,. and if their current selection of no-name electronics (outside of things like TVs and computer parts) are any indication, I would personally not trust something like that when it came to most car parts.

For me the same shopping rules apply at Newegg that do at Amazon.

Never ever (ever!) buy anything from a third-party seller on either site UNLESS said 3rd-party is something like Dicks Sporting goods, Adidas, Dell or another recognizable/legit company with its own reputation to maintain. (or unless the item is so cheap you don't give 2 craps!)

Never had any problems with either place provided I stuck with the above.

I ESPECIALLY avoid Autozone, O'Reilly, etc. like the plague except for replacing the vehicle battery. I usually always buy OEM, but man sometimes the RockAuto parts seemed/sounded pretty legit for potentially after that is better than OEM.

I haven't yet pulled the trigger though. Partly because I've just become more lazy with my car lately. I had an itch to start doing more things - and I did - but it's died down quite a bit. I'm too lazy jack my car, get underneath with my head against the concrete to even change my oil/filter let alone other shit lol.

I’ve got several hundred in credit at Newegg to buy a new GPU. As of today I could buy a 4GB GTX 1650 to replace my (checks rig) 8GB aftermarket Vega 56.

Guess I might be buying car parts.

Get yourself a floor jack and mechanic's creeper :D
Only if you'll have the clearance, I guess, was great to have one when working on my Jeep. Not so useful with the Miata...

Yeah I thought about that. Part of it is also just being on the back in general and trying to reach up, ya know?

Christ I still have nightmares of trying to reach my hand waaaay up to try and unscrew an overly tightened oil filter and it feels like I'm shoving my hand up so far like a colonoscopy.

Also just the feeling of being in a confined tight area where I have a sorta light claustrophobic fear of it crashing down on me.

I'll still do basics under the hood. Air Filters. Spark plugs. Replace fluids via pump, belts, etc.

Newegg is basically Amazon/Ebay/Aliexpress now it seems. So much for being a computer store lol. We really don't have much online computer stores here in Canada so newegg has always been one of my choices if I can't find anything here, but knowing that they're CCP owned now I guess that's another one to scratch off the list.

This rule has limited impact because product fulfilled by Amazon are all commingled in inventory, so you don't know if it was procured by Amazon or by sketchy 3rd party.

Even if you go by the name of the company on sites like Amazon, how do you really know it's ACTUALLY that company. Anyone can just make an account and call themselves the name of a company and start selling under that name. I tend to go by feel and hope for the best but in general I try to avoid buying anything from Amazon and similar sites unless it's something I don't really care much about the quality.

Absolutely true ... however you DO know that the company ultimately selling you the product is far more likely to take care of you if anything goes wrong since they have an actual reputation to maintain!

The best you can do on Amazon is to make sure to select "Amazon" or possibly "Amazon Warehouse" as seller on the bottom-left of the menu when buying. That way at least they'll (usually) have your back without an argument.

I actually bought a modified center console for my Mini Cooper to fit a 6" touch screen head unit through NewEgg.
