Somebody needs insurance on the car, but not always the learner. My insurance company didn't require my son to be covered during his stint with the temporary license, but another company, Progressive, did require him to be covered under their plan. The one I have now is Central Insurance

will say no as you have drive with a driver who is 25 or older and has a valid licences. That person will also have insurance for car under which u can drive, if you have aaa then you also have to get insurance. So call the insurance company of the driver that will be riding with you and find out about the policy that they have regarding permitt driver

Eh, maybe there is hope. I will have my learners permit very soon, and I will be driving one of my parents cars. I can't wait to drive, so I'm hoping that this won't be an issue when I get the permit. We have Allstate in NJ, and the oldest car is a 2001 suburban, so I'm thinking the rate will probably be pretty friggin high when it's time to face the music. Hopefully, that won't be this year!
