Do you need a car...

...to go out with a girl. I've thought about this I wonder what you guys think. My reasoning, in the US you're usually screwed if you don't have a car in the first place, however the fact that society today is so materialistic I have to say yes myself. Not to mention the fact that in most states you can drive from when you're 16, unlike other countries. I'd like to know what everyone else thinks on this issue.

If you live in a city where public transportation is common then no. If you live out in the sticks, or near Detroit where there's hardly any public transportation on the outskirts of the city, then I'd say yeah, you need a car to take a girl on a date.

Not necessarily. In places with well developed public transit (NYC for example) most of the residents don't even have cars - so no problem there.

Most places, though, it's almost a requirement - unless you:
a) have a motorcycle, and she doesn't mind riding w/you on it;
b) she has a car, so you don't need one;
c) live within walking distance of her, as well as date spots (restaurants, etc)
d) are <16, and still riding bikes;
e) don't mind getting rides from your parents

Of course, d and e are only really valid for young HS kids...

:music:daisy, daisy, I am in love with you.
I'm half crazy just with the thought of you,
I can't afford a carriage,
But you'll look sweet, upon the seat, of a bicycle built for two!
