I have the Plextor 12/10/32 ide and was trying to rewrite a cd with nero 5.0.2.2. The rewriteable cd I was using is specified to be compatible up to 4 x only, and under the rewrite speed options I was only able to chose between 2x and 4x. Is this a nero limitation or because of the cd. Good thing is that nero had no problem burning my 8x imation cds at 12x.

You need 10x compatible CD-RW disk to burn/write. Can you re-write at 10x speed using Plextor?

Rewriting at 8x or 10x is quite different to rewriting at 2x or 4x. You need a specifically formulated disc in order for it to work reliably.

Nero is correctly not giving you the option to rewrite at 10x. Some programs may offer the option, although I think the writer will ignore it and just write at 4x.

thx for all the replies, looks like I should have gotten 10x rewriteable media with the drive as well.

You should have gotten one piece of Ricoh 10X CD-RW media with the Plextor. Check if that media enables the 10x option in Nero.
