Do YOU make the distinction between Males, Guys, and Men?

if you've read dave barry's guide to guys, you know what i'm talking about.... basically it's this...

guys are a subset of males. you know, the stereotypical sport loving, body noise making, guy.

men.... all seriouslike, like john wayne and patton.

then, you have the other males.... but i'm just curious, do you people make this distinction? i do.

dave barry is my hero. I've read most of his stuff.

i agree with him on this stuff too.. John wayne is not a "guy"
I am a "guy"
i'm still pretty young though... maybe in a few years i'll mature into a "man"

Males are any humans with a dong
Guys are slightly more macho, hairy, and otherwise androgenic
Man is a title that I think you have to earn. It's not so much what appearance or whatever you have, but a way you act.

...a man is sexy because he exudes masculine sexuality (no matter what he looks like) and has a strong and honorable character. "Man" is not defined by age.

edit: I think a "man" will be goofy at times, too :) he just knows when it's time to be serious

really? i dunno, because i'm serious when i need to be (during meetings, class, etc) but i'm also pretty goofy sometimes. i think of myself as a guy. i take pride in being a guy. men are the ones who start wars and crap. if it was a bunch of guys, they'd be like "AAAARRRRGGG we will BOMB you! *long pause* ah screw it, lets play cards"

Guys are my friends that I hang out with. Males is an obscure reference to a slightly lower life form (j/k). Men are the ones women trust enough to rely on in a long-term relationship. :)

True Jfur, you do want to pass on the man-genes to your non-female children. To pass on guy-genes puts them at a disadvantage with the opposite sex later in life. They'll have tons of girl friends and have trouble finding a girlfriend. :)

BTW, just so no one takes me anywhere near seriously, I haven't been up past midnight in a month until today. Plus I'm on five different prescription meds. :p

Boy, you must have been making up REM sleep last night; that's when you have those incredibly unrealistic dreams. :p

i'm glad you put that winky face and almost in there jfur :)

seriously, i consider myself one of the laziest people i know (if you consider that an indicator of a man). the only reason i succeed in school and work is because

a.) i am motivated by the potential for money
b.) i like the feeling of success
c.) in regards to school, i would feel horrible to let my parents down
and d.) i enjoy my work

if it weren't for those factors, i think i'd be a miserable failure. i'm sooooo lazy. this is why i love my job, because i sit in a chair all day. minimal physical activity is key. i catch busses just to get one block from where i am, because i'm too lazy to walk. i wish at least once a day that we could have transporters like in star trek so i don't have to walk 10 my classes (takes up to 10 minutes walking).

hopefully, i have absolved myself of being a man by now. i'll take the "masculine sexuality" part though... :D

all in all, i think i just cherish my innocence... as silly as it sounds...

Really? I can't wait to be a man. I don't think that happens though until I establish myself as either a good husband, father or both.
