Do you lower screen resolution when watching full-screen video?

For those with large CRT monitors running at high screen resolutions (like 1280x1024 or 1600x1200), does it improve the video quality to lower the resolution to 800x600 when watching full-screen video?

I figured it would, since at a lower resolution it would require less zooming to make the video full-screen. But I haven't been able to notice any difference in video quality when doing so.

So I'm just curious whether video card drivers are able to compensate for different resolutions when running full-screen video (and thus making any resolution changes pointless). Or whether my eyes just aren't good enough to see the difference.

doesn't make a difference. one way that does improve the vid quality is to use ffdshow as your codec it has tons of filters in it to tweak the pic
