Do you live on a private road with a gate across it?

How do UPS/Fire/Police get through the gate?
Are there specific laws that govern this?

We've lived here for a year and the gate has never been used as someone stole the battery and messed up the wiring. The neighbors want to use the gate again and I volunteered to fix it. I just want to find this out before instead of after the fact.

Not sure if this will help or not, I listen to the police scanner and there is a gated apartment complex in my city. From hearing police respond to calls at this complex I know they have an entry code on file that is given to officers enroute. Does your gate have a keypad or is it opened by remote control?

I live on a gated road, on the back of the call box there is an emergency access button which opens the gate (and sets off a loud alarm).

It's obviously doing a great job of keeping out criminals.

Haven't had any criminals, we just don't want them using our road to go to the lake.

My gate has a callbox and a card thing that you can hold up to get in. Our former 🙂() mail lady showed me that she had a card that apparently was given to the USPS by my association.
