Do you live in a city with an animal?

I see people all the time here in central London with dogs. They take them out to the sidewalk to poop and never to the park.

These people only have dogs because they get satisfaction out of it, but the dogs are miserable being forced to poop on sidewalks. Worse yet, they never pick up the poop.

If you have a dog and live in a big city (NYC, London, San Francisco, Chicago, etc) then you are a disgusting human being who should be put out to pasture.

You have no right having an animal which lives a terrible quality of life, and you force other city dwellers to smell and step in your animal shit. You are the only person who benefits from this by having a furry companion. This is cruelty to animals.

Shame on you.

I don't think the dog really cares where it poops. I don't particularly care whether other people's pets have a good quality of life either. Other people's dogs do annoy me quite a bit though. They're noisy, smelly, and often hostile to people who aren't their owners.

Uh, well, leaving the poop on the ground is illegal in most cities, but otherwise, no...there's nothing wrong with it. The dog doesn't care where it poops, and as long as you still get it sufficient exercise, its certainly not cruel to the dog.

There are people who live in the city who have yards.

I for one don't live in the city, but I would only consider if I could have a decent sized lot with a nice back yard ....

OP is making a lot of assumptions when I think the bottom line is they don't like poop on a sidewalk. And on that point, I agree. Owners should clean up after their animals. But assuming everyone in a city practices animal cruelty is just far fetched.

I'm talking about people who live in apartments.

How can you possibly think that is a good lifestyle for the dog? They need to run around free in a field.

not really.

some breeds are better off with a lot of space to roam because they need the excercise.

other breeds are perfectly happy sleeping on the couch all day long only leaving the house to poop.

Put a dog in the yard and most breeds will walk around for 2 minutes, then go lay down somewhere and fall asleep. Regular walks are much better and more stimulating for dogs.

I have three dogs in an apartment in NYC. Two are pugs and one is a ridgeback. They're just fine, and we pick up their shit. Fuck you very much.

"If" I lived in the city, and if I had a pet while living in the city, it would have to be a couple of chickens.

Chickens are the perfect outdoor pet. If you get tired of them, you can eat them and nobody cares.

OP = moron

I live in the city with two dogs. Have a fenced in backyard with doggie door. Also, my city has several dog parks that people take their dogs to run around. Many people also take their dogs out of the city to the woods after work and on the weekends.

Having a backyard means you don't really live in a city. You live in the inner suburbs maybe, but not within the core of the city.

Cities are different. Some cities do in fact have yards, even in town. So far you've shown that you know little about caring for a dog and less about living in a city - perhaps its time to silently back out of the thread, eh?
