I've always preferred Azureus over other bittorent clients for it's sheer amount of configurabillity and amount of cool info the program exposes to the user. However with the advent of Azureus 3.0 it has now become Vuze. Vuze is basically just a friendly Napster-like GUI on top of the Azureus engine. You can still see the classic Azureus view under the advanced tab but the default view is now a friendly looking search engine based torrent browser that offers 100% legal content for you to download. In fact you have to pay for a lot of it. This is obviously an attempt to legitimize Azureus and help it go mainstream as much of this content is offered by partnerships with major media outlets. Doubtless though most of the torrents still downloaded with Vuze will not be legal.
I still have mixed feelings about the new version. It looks cool and all and I like the ability to quickly search for HD movie trailers, commercials, and user created content. But I'm not sure I like the idea of it going too mainstream.
