Do you like Vuze (Azureus 3.0) ?

I've always preferred Azureus over other bittorent clients for it's sheer amount of configurabillity and amount of cool info the program exposes to the user. However with the advent of Azureus 3.0 it has now become Vuze. Vuze is basically just a friendly Napster-like GUI on top of the Azureus engine. You can still see the classic Azureus view under the advanced tab but the default view is now a friendly looking search engine based torrent browser that offers 100% legal content for you to download. In fact you have to pay for a lot of it. This is obviously an attempt to legitimize Azureus and help it go mainstream as much of this content is offered by partnerships with major media outlets. Doubtless though most of the torrents still downloaded with Vuze will not be legal.

I still have mixed feelings about the new version. It looks cool and all and I like the ability to quickly search for HD movie trailers, commercials, and user created content. But I'm not sure I like the idea of it going too mainstream.

What do you think?

Its kind of cool. But this was my first reaction when I saw it.

WTF IS VUZE
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CRAP COVERING MY SCREEN???!!
Oh..its just Videos.
I DIDN"T GET THIS THING TO SEE TRAILERS, I GOT THIS SO I COULD SEE ENTIRE MOVIES.

Etc..etc..

In other words, I hate it.

took one look at the preview and decided to disable the update thing on azureus.

pirating software going legitimate never works out well

I kind of don't want to use uTorrent because of that entire selling themselves to the RIAA thing, even if there really isn't any evidence that it exits.

I just took Azureus, and just disabled everything I could except for the stuff I need.

Works fine for me. Whenever I open it, I just run it in the classic appearance mode.

My reaction was essentially the same except I clicked the "advanced" button in the middle of it, and went back to mellow.
I've never used any of the other 'features' blah.

Since Comcrap instituted Sandvine utorrent hasn't worked properly and my hand was forced in using Vuze and its RC4 encryption! :thumbup;

I've actually enjoyed looking at trailers and music videos in the new interface. I still revert to classic mode for other things, but I see it as an improvement overall. I saw my first trailer for Resident Evil:Extinction via Vuze, and my first Bioshock trailer. The new version has stuff that I actually like and I can still make it work like the old version if I want to. What's wrong with that?

I never liked Azureus. It was always too slow and used too many resources.

BTW, has demonoid been down for a couple of days now?

Its the only way around the shaper.

uTorrent has a little checkbox that says "Enable encryption". I don't know if its the same as Azureus' encryption, but it might be worth checking out.
