A friend of mine is, IMO, a very talented artist. I was downtown last week at some art galleries and I felt that his work was at least as good as what I saw there, but I realize that my opinion means nothing.

So I thought I'd run it by you guys... let me know what you think.

its very good, but i wouldnt say i liked it.
Same here. I probably wouldn't buy one, but I can see the talent in them.
Really? Interesting. Is it just because you don't know where you'd put it/doesn't fit your decorating scheme/etc.?

I like them, could be better though, they appear to lack emotion, passion...

Edit: what im trying to say is nothing "leaps out at you" not literally, but nothing about them really catches the eye.

I would agree to a point, but I think that's a good thing for stuff I want to put on my walls. I don't want something extremely flashy... but they're enjoyable to look at.

Last weekend I saw a guy that had a rooster head in all his pictures. VERY bright pictures. That grabbed my attention, but I couldn't put that on my wall... I wouldn't be able to look away.

yeah they are pretty good, but i prob wouldn;t pay to go see them, but again i wouldn;t pay to see anyones paintings, unless they are in a museum

I like it. It might not be something I'd hang on my wall, but definitely has a signature look to it; like how the cover art on some magazines is always of a certain style done by one or a couple of guys (think "The Week", "The New Yorker", etc...).

I don't know if it's to the point where I'd pay to see them either (then again, I can see them for free anytime, so it'd be hard for me to pay). Then again, his body of work isn't big enough for that either. To be that kind of person, I think you have to either have a big social commentary-type message in your works, or be dead and incredibly famous. Other than that, I don't think I'd pay to see any artist.

I know what you mean... I can't honestly draw a horse that looks like a horse.
