I'm curious if there are any people that do not smoke marijuana or exercise some kind of substance abuse that actually like this band and are fond of their music? I've tried extremely hard to "get into" their music, but I can't help but not like their music at all. Yes, I realize their not a band anymore, but I still would like some answers, thanks.

I like a few of their songs, but I don't really care for the band. Like you, I never could "get into" the music.
I had an Ex that liked phish and she was not into any drugs... aren't they like Dave Mathews band?
I do not smoke pot, but Phish is ok. It's not great music to really get into, but it's good to play while chilling or doing some work. It's nice, mellow, relaxing stuff. But not the kind of stuff I would actively listen to, as it's just not that interesting.

My roommate from 1st year uni. was into them. I got to like a couple of their songs but.. not many.
Mind you, he also largely intro'd me to Pink Floyd among other bands, for which I will always owe him greatly!

Having said that... They're die hard in the fact that they'll play 3, 2 hour sets. They certainly put on a lengthy show and are talented... You get a lot of music for the money. However, it starts to blend together naturally without the use of drugs after a while. It gets old fast.

That's about my take too. I like several of there songs in small doses. Expecially when I'm just trying to relax.

and not everyone who listens to them are drug useing hippies i know plents of straight sober peopel who love their music
Trey is one of teh most amazing guitarists ive ever seen and the fact that they put on one of the best shows ever is great as well
also no matter when or where they play they will draw like 50 thousand people to the show, the are/wer the Greatfull Dead of our generation

Um yes...I enjoy their music and have not done any "substand abuse" for many years (well except alcohol). Their music is just fun and the atmosphere around it is fun (although all about being lazy too...which gets old after a while).
You may just not like the music...no need to try if you don't like it. I don't try to like country music...I just know I never will.

Phish rocks my world and I only wish I had the facilities to have Trey's babies. Their live show is nothing short of amazing and their studio work is pretty damn good too.
I mean, like all music it's really something that one is either into or not into, but for what it's worth, probably all of my musically inclined friends wonder why everyone does not think Phish is the bee's knees.
