go blow it up then...

also, you can run for cover if you listen for the first whistle sound.

I was addicted to COD:UO and I hated it too. I think I hate it even more in COD:UO because it is more devistating and there is absolutely no warning.

So no, I don't like artillery strikes but it could be a lot worse.

Just run/drive like hell out of the area getting bombarded. Tis only really annoying when your own commander sends in an artillery barrage on your position as you are about to cap a flag and there are no enemies around.

I thought there will be a auto visual warning on the radar when an artillery strike is detected? If so, you got plenty of time to run.

I don't like it, but it's fun getting a few people together to go take it out.

Yeah, that annoys me. Otherwise...I  the way artillery works in BF:2

Call me a 'tard, but I could never target artillery right in '42, DC, or BF:V

Good commanders are suppose to only fire artillery support WHEN a sqad leader requests it

CS isn't a war game. It doesn't even try to be one.

exactly, you really cant compare the two, as one is supposed to be "anti-terrorist tactical shooter" type game, wheras in BF you have tons more idiots running around in tanks and hummers and planes blowing sh!t up.

And when the squad leaders suck?

I love the artillery and wish there were SCUDs... There aren't any right? I haven't seen them. :(

If your commander is that much of a douchebag to nuke you like that, then you either need a new commander, or get a different server...

Well, I wouldn't call it a newb game for posers... I think CS is a good shooter because it's accessible to people who don't have the time to invest in learning the nuances of complex gameplay like BF2. Personally, I think CS does very well what it sets out to do. When I want a quick fragfest, it's CS for me. When I want to sit down for an hour or more and play death chess, it's BF2.

Anyway, as for the artillary, I think it's a necessary evil. It helps to justify the Commander position and helps to unify the Commander and Squad Leaders by requiring some coordination. As for getting killed by it, I don't think it's too difficult to escape: as soon as you hear it, bolt. I think the artillary serves as more of a deterent than an actual weapon. I don't see too many people actually getting killed by it, but an artillary strike can sure put a damper on a flag capture effort.

I've seen squads taken out by artillery, I'd say it's effective.

I only hate it when I spawn in a location just as the artillary comes down to send me back to the clock. I think it's an important tool on the battlefield because it gives you support when you're trying to overtake overwhelming numbers of troops in one location. It kills armored vehicles, etc...so it's great.
