"Do you like Pina Coladas" question...

How exactly would you react to this situation?

Lets break down the song. Your wife/girlfriend/fiancee/whoever puts out a personal ad because she's bored with the relationship. You read it because you are bored with the relationship also and even respond to it saying that you 2 should meet. You follow through with this only to realize that it's eachother all along.

Now in the song they laugh about it and live happily ever after. I call shenanigans on this. I think that even the most hardcore bookie wouldnt take the odds that the couple would survive a relationship after that.

Am i the only one that thinks this way when I hear the song? What are your views? Discuss.

When you listen to that song you're supposed to be too drunk to understand what he's saying.

After reading, shens. Proper response to your SO putting out a personal ad is to hire a buddy to bait her, if he succeeds you then proceed to give her sister/cousin/roommate/mother/etc the rogering of their lives.

Edit - And what song is this? Pina Coladas? The only time it's acceptable for a man to consume that is if it's served for free. On a tropical beach. By a hot topless waitress.

Agreed. And Rupert Holmes has written a lot of other songs and also been involved in a TV Show.

Wrote: Song called "Timothy" by The Buoys
TV Show: Remember WENN

Check out these lyrics written by Rupert Holmes:

"Timothy" by The Buoys
(Rupert Holmes)

Verse 1:

Trapped in a mine that had caved in
And everyone knows the only ones left
Were Joe and me and Tim

When they broke through to pull us free
The only ones left to tell the tale
Were Joe and me

Chorus 1:

Timothy, Timothy, where on earth did you go?
Timothy, Timothy, God why don't I know?

Verse 2:

Hungry as hell no food to eat
And Joe said that he would sell his soul
For just a piece of meat
Water enough to drink for two
And Joe said to me, "I'll take a swig
And then there's some for you."

Chorus 2:

Timothy, Timothy, Joe was looking at you
Timothy, Timothy, God what did we do?

Verse 3:

I must have blacked out just around then
'Cause the very next thing that I could see
Was the light of the day again
My stomach was full as it could be
And nobody ever got around
To finding Timothy

[repeat chorus 1]

Coda:

Timothy... [repeat to fade]

Yeah, I'm sure you know of it. Might not know the name.

Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes.

Check it out.

I suppose if you want to get all technical about it 😛

Sorry. 😱

One of my pet peeves is to get song titles and song artists right. There is too much confusion in the world as it is.

I can't imagine that a person has not heard this song.
it is fantastic. Go steal it right now if you have not heard it: Rupert Holmes "Escape"

Wow, never really listened to the lyrics on that one. Interesting.

Margaritaville anybody?

[edit: I wasn't confusing Jimmy Buffet and Holmes, just referencing another popular alcoholish beach tune]

Isnt that song by Jimmy Buffett? I had never heard that Rupert Holmes thing until now...

edit: unless that's his real name and I didnt know that either.

To clear up some confusion:

Margaritaville is by Jimmy Buffett
Escape (The Pina Colada Song) is by Rupert Holmes

They are two completely different songs and singers.
